Ripple, or XRP, is a cryptocurrency, which can be exchanged to other ones without a third-party intervention. Its payment protocol works like a payment system, currency exchange and remittance network. The Ripple network also supports fiat currencies and commodities. The amount of time necessary for a single transaction is less than 4 seconds. When it is compared with Bitcoin’s transaction time (10 minutes), a significant advantage is revealed. XRP currency is controlled by Ripple company and transactions are not decentralized. Consequently, we can’t enjoy benefits which are offered by peer-to-peer systems. We also can’t mine new XRPs. They are already pre-mined.
