Peercoin (PPC) is one of the classic altcoins which appeared on the market in 2012 with a purpose to improve some aspects of Bitcoin. In general, Peercoin’s source code is very similar to Bitcoin’s one and the main difference lays in the implementation of a hybrid proof type – combination of proof-of-stake and proof-of-work. Currently we can find many coins which also use this combined system, but in 2012 only Peercoin thought about this idea. Consequently, PPC coins can be mined and minted. For mining will be used SHA-256 algorithm and Peercoin wants to make this process more difficult in future. Speaking about minting, the annual reward is 1% of the overall possessed amount and this percentage will grow with time. It is also important to mention that the total number of peercoins is not predefined, so there are no potential limits for creating new coins.
