Love it or hate it, Litcoin Cash has now forked. Much more importantly, with the Litecoin Cash price at $3.33, this means that people holding Litecoin prior to the February fork can now claim the equivalent of $33.30 per coin. There is just one question. - Where can Litecoin holders claim their free Litecoin Cash safely and easily?
When Bitcoin Cash forked from Bitcoin in August 2017, exchanges like Coinbase caused controversy by not crediting Bitcoin holders with free the BCH they were entitled to. Needless to say, Coinbase has decided to once again lay claim to its users newly forked Litecoin Cash coins. The good news, however, is that Android and IOS mobile wallet Coinomi, has decided to make claiming Litecoin Cash as easy and hassle-free as possible.
Exchanges like Coinbase, don’t allow users to access their own wallet private keys. This being the case, it is important to understand that if you had Litecoin stored on an exchange like Coinbase when Litecoin Cash forked, you won’t be able to claim free Litecoin Cash using Coinomi. (Sorry.)
Thankfully, for Litecoin users who were in possession of their private keys at the time of the LCC fork, claiming free coins with Coinomi is as easy.
Because Coinomi has just started supporting Litecoin Cash, even people with the Coinomi wallet app will need to update this before being able to claim coins. New Coinomi users in the meanwhile, will need to download and install Coinomi, before setting up the wallet and most importantly of all, generating and storing a wallet recovery passphrase.
After setting up and/or updating Coinomi, users will need to hit the +Coins button in the top left corner of the Coinomi wallet home screen. Users will then be able to scroll down and add Litecoin Cash to the list of coins supported by their wallet install.
After adding Litceoin Cash, people who already had Litecoin stored on Coinomi at the time of the Litecoin Cash fork will need to select ‘Advanced Settings’ below where Coinomi prompts users for their password. Here, users will then need to input the code: M/44H/2H/0H into the ‘Deviation Path’ area. After this code has been entered, Coinomi will then automatically credit user balances with 10 coins for every Litecoin they held prior to the February fork.
For users who didn’t have Litecoin stored on Coinomi at the time of the February fork, claiming Litecoin Cash involves first adding the currency, before sweeping wallet addresses eligible for free LCC tokens. In order to do this, users should first move any Litecoin to a new wallet address (for security reasons) before opening Litecoin Cash on Coinomi and selecting ‘Sweep Wallet.’ Users willthen need to scan or manually enter their old Litecoin wallet private key and after doing so, funds should appear on Coinomi instantly.
While claiming Litecoin Cash is easy, trading the digital currency gets a little more complicated.
At present, exchanges like Binance are refusing to add LCC due to the fact that:
”There has yet to be any indication that LCC is a legitimate fork. There is no wallet, there is no blockchain. We avoid supporting forks that fork simply for the sake of forking.“ - Binance Official on Reddit
This being the case, new Litecoin Cash holders can either choose to hold or trade LCC at Yobit.net, mercatox.com, tradesatoshi.com, orwww.southxchange.com. - These being the only official exchanges supporting Litecoin Cash.
