Namecoin is a decentralized DNS provider, but is services are not limited only to DNS. Its users can create immutable websites by using the .bit top-level domain. This domain is located on a P2P network and there is no way to restrict access or to spy “Dot-Bit-enabled” websites. Namecoin platform also introduces another product: Namecoin identity. It offers a possibility to register human-readable names (NameIDs), which are transformed to OpenIDs for signing into any OpenID-enabled website. There is no necessity to provide any private information and all NameIDs are securely stored in a decentralized database. The private key related to a NameID will work as a password, by incorporating it in the digital signature. This system solves the Zooko's triangle trilemma for participants in a network protocol.
