Coinbase identity verification not working

Hey guys. For about 2 months I am trying to verify my account at Coinbase, but without any luck. Every time when I upload my documents to Coinbase I get notification that ID verification failed: "Unable to verify your identity".

I've tried to upload:

  • my Driver's Licence
  • my ID
  • my Passport

Few times I tried to make better quality photos of my documents. I also tried to perform Identity verification at Coinbase using mobile device. 

Doesn't matter what actions I perform - I can't verify my identity on Coinbase. 

At the end of december I read on their website, that they have some technical issues, and identity verification can take long time, but even in that period I got emails from Coinbase "Unable to verify your identity" almost every day. 

I submitted about 6 tickets to their support team (the first ticket was sent on 10th of December), and I didn't get any replies from Coinbase support. 

It is very important for me to verify my identity on Coinbase, because Coinbase is the easiest way for me to buy cryptocurrency using fiat money. Without identity verification I am unable to deposit USD to Coinbase. This verification process takes too long (I missed a lot of opportunities when I can buy Ripple for 1$, etc).

Can anybody help me find the reason of this issue with Coinbase verification?

Hi Brendan. Based on your description and failure to get your verification approved, I can only think of one reason why you've failed. Namely your location/phone number do not match the location of documents you are providing.

As an example, you are US citizen living in Switzerland. You upload your USA passport, your USA drivers license, however the phone number, address you are providing is in Switzerland. Therefore there are two options:

1. Register new account for the country where you have documents (ID, Passport, Driver's Licence)
2. Upload the residence permit or any document for the country where you are currently living

That should solve the issue.

I made about 20 attempts to get verified on Coinbase — but unofrtunately all my requests were declined. I think coinbase guys don't want to spend enough money on support team that is why all tickets were just ignored. Aside from this issue with identity verification Coinbase seems the only one exchange which allows to deposit money using bank cards.

Hi guys. What is average Coinbase verification time? Does it make sense to wait for verification or it is better to choose another exchange

Hi Buckster, if everything is ok with your documents (and your account country is the same as in your documents) verification on Coinbase should not take long time. Usually your account can become verified during 1 business day.
